Why we use airless dispensers

September 4 2020 · Written by reveel by MedSkin Solutions

Did you know that all moisturisers, concentrates, serums and fluids made by reveel by MedSkin Solutions are packaged in an airless dispenser? And that this means we can do without lots of preservatives?

What is an airless dispenser?

An airless, i.e. airtight, dispenser has a mechanical pump inside the packaging. Pressing down the pump releases a small amount of the skincare product from the dispenser by lifting the double bottom inside the packaging. This creates a vacuum, which means that only small quantities can be dispensed, even when in a horizontal position. No air can get into the dispenser.

What are the advantages of an airless dispenser compared to conventional packaging?
  • An airless dispenser ensures the effectiveness of the product. A skincare product coming into contact with oxygen and light can lead to the ingredients becoming oxidised. This then changes the colour, the smell or the effectiveness of the product. Our opaque airless dispenser completely blocks out atmospheric air and light.
  • The airless dispenser is more hygienic. By blocking out air, the product remains germ-free for longer. This means the product has a longer shelf life with fewer preservatives.
  • Less product residue is wasted. The product is almost completely pressed out of the airless dispenser. So there is no residue left, which is often thrown away in conventional packaging.
  • Airless dispensers remain closed. This makes them ideal for carrying in handbags and taking on trips.
