Fruit acid for smoother skin

August 17 2020 · Written by reveel by MedSkin Solutions

AHA stands for alpha hydroxy acid (fruit acid). But how can this acid make dry and dull skin glow again?

Once again, we asked our experts.

It is important to know that our young skin renews itself every 28 days. As we age, however, the skin renewal cycle becomes longer. The skin cells then move gradually towards the surface of the skin where they ultimately die. It is these dying cells that give your skin a dull, rough and flaky complexion - sometimes even with hardened skin. Due to UV radiation, the latter mainly occurs after the summer and can also lead to irregular pigmentation and an uneven texture.

Glycolic acid, the most effective form of all AHAs, gently removes dead skin cells, refreshes the skin’s structure and stimulates the skin’s own cell renewal. Pores are visibly refined, and pigment spots and irregularities in the skin tone are reduced. Exfoliating with an AHA will also hydrate your skin, as the fruit acid strengthens the skin’s barrier. This means that the skin loses less water and can retain more moisture. This ensures a smooth, fresh complexion and gives your skin back its natural radiance.

Tips for using your AHA:
  • Use AHA products with glycolic acid as this is the most effective and most researched AHA. A concentration of 10% is ideal.
  • To begin with, apply the product once to twice per week in the evening and only increase the frequency of use to every evening after a few weeks.
  • Before using, clean the face and use a toner.
  • Apply an antioxidant serum and/or moisturiser after use, and use a sunscreen with a high UV protection factor during the day.

Do you want to make your skin glow? Then use our highly effective AHA Fluid as a “leave-on exfoliant” overnight.
